Security Matters
When you install the SYNOPSYS security dongle for the first time,
you must also install drivers for it. Download Keyfiles.zip,
unzip
the file, and save the contents to a directory where you can
find it again. Then run setup.exe from that directory, and the
drivers will be installed. You only have to do this once.
This
procedure also copies a file that is used to update your key
when you renew your support. (If you are currently using other
software products that employ the SafeNet Sentinel key, your drivers
are already installed, so you don't have to run setup.exe -- but you
will still need the other file for updating your dongle.)
Updating your Dongle
When your support period is nearing its expiry, you can arrange
for
payment of the support renewal fee, currently $500 US, by clicking the
Register button on our homepage. When
payment has been completed, you can update the dongle by following
these
easy steps:
1. Open the directory where you saved the files from Keyfiles.zip.
2. Double-click the file SecureUpdateUtility.exe.
3. Click the button that says Generate
Request Code.
4. When it asks for a filename, give it a name that will let us
know whom it is from. We recommend using the key number, which
you can find by clicking Help
and then License Information
while you are running SYNOPSYS.
The utility creates and saves a req file.
5. Send this file to me via email, at dilworth@osdoptics.com.
6. When we receive this file, we will create a upd file and send
it to you.
7. When you receive this upd file, save it, and then open the SecureUpdateUtility
again. In the lower section of the utility, browse for that file
and then click Apply Code.
8. That's it; your support is now good for another year (or
whatever period you have chosen to purchase.)
