Users of the Microsoft operating system Windows 7 will have to follow a different procedure from that which worked on an older OS.  The following steps should clear up any installation error problems:

A.  Installation

1.  Download the SYNOPSYS installer and save to the desktop.

2.  Disable UAC (User Account Control)

3.  Right click on the installer icon and choose properties.

4.  In properties box choose compatibility and check the box that sets compatibility mode to Windows XP SP3.

5.  Close all boxes and run installer.  This should get the program installed.

B.  Getting help files to work.

Windows 7 does not have the Help file Reader included.  Need to install it.  My way was

 1.  Start program.  Click on Help in the toolbar.  Choose help topics. This should bring up an error message and a way to get to the Microsoft Windows 7 Solution area.

 2.  Complete all the stuff Microsoft wants so that you get to the download page.

 3.  Choose the first option (32bit reader).  The 64-bit reader will not work with the SYNOPSYS help files.

 4.  Complete the installation of the reader and all should now work.

C. If the installation instructions in item A do not work, try the following:

Turn on ability to see hidden files and folders; turn off UAC; (reboot after changing security settings). Use Windows XP (SP2) compatibility only (XP SP3 settings will give error 113 )

These instructions have worked in some cases. We compile everything on XP-SP3, and do not know why the SP3 settings will not always work. But if you have difficulty, please try this procedure instead of the above.
